The Project

Following a highly fulfilling professional career,
Bernard Duvernay was inspired to create the
Flying Anvil Foundation, a vehicle to promote
solidarity within the farriery profession:

Solidarity with farriers working in difficult situations :

The aim of the Flying Anvil Foundation is to bring sustainable assistance in the form of training and information about modern farriery techniques to

countries where there may be a shortage of qualified specialist manpower and where the profession suffers from a lack of recognition.
In many developing countries, there is a deficit of training structures relating to this profession in the equine environment which meet today’s professional standards and which are accessible to all.

In the interest of horses’ health :

Remarkable progress has been made in the field of farriery today, largely due to the advances achieved in veterinary medicine. Unfortunately though, this scenario is only effective in the richer countries. Many horses suffer from inappropriate farriery methods arising from a lack of knowledge and these can be traumatic for the animal.

Our approach is aimed at providing the appropriate skills to farriers who are motivated and who wish to achieve the professional know-how needed for the job today. Training provided by Flying Anvil Foundation offers the advantage of improved care for the horse, leading to a higher level of comfort and performance for the animal.
