Background of FAF and his founder

About Bernard Duvernay

 

1985            Bernard Duvernay is sent to Honduras by the Swiss International Development Agency on a mission to evaluate farriery in the country. Arising from this survey, a specialist training course was set up at the Tegucigalpa technical school. This trip was to be the first of a lengthy series of journeys which has taken him around the world. 

Over three years, Bernard went regularly to Honduras to provide support to the trainers on the course. From Honduras, he was called on to set up training seminars for farriers in Guatemala, Mexico, Costa Rica and Chile.

 

1994            Bernard is invited to India to hold teaching session at the main breeding centres for thoroughbreds: Nanoli Stud Farm, Poonwalla Stud Farm, Usha Stud Farm Bangalore, Equus Stud Farm in Pune and Dashmesh Stud Farm in Punjab. He is responsible for training the farriers in these establishments, introducing the latest know-how in the craft.

Bernard is also put in charge of organising training sessions at the racecourses in Bombay, Pune and Bangalore.

Since 1994 Bernard has been making twice-yearly visits to these stud farms.

2000            Training course for farriers at Tehran and Mashad in Iran.
Training course for farriers at Johannesburg, Durban and Cape Town in South Africa.

2001            Training course for farriers at Lahore, Pakistan.
Training courses at Beijing and at Hohotte (Inner Mongolia) in China.

2002            Training for farriers at Muscat in Sultanate of Oman.
Course for the Souk farriers held at El Jadida in Morocco, in association with the SPANA association.

 

 

2003            Farriery training course at Khartoum, Sudan,
Consultancy mission at Al Shakab Farm, Umm Qarn Farm at Doha, Qatar, Consultancy for Ajmal Stud, Kuwait Riding Centre, Kuwait, Consultancy for farriers of Sheikh Salman Al Khalifa, Bahrain.

2004            Training courses organized in Jordan, Egypt and at Moscow, Russia.

2005 – 2010            Training sessions in Poland, Czech Republic, Iran, India and Mexico.

It is governed according to the rules of the Swiss Federal Government’s general secretariat.
