Our Indian coordinator is on tour in Europe for 3 intensive months of training !

Thanks to our crowdfunding for which you have maybe generously contributed, we are able to offer a continuing training to our Indian coordinator. Sahib Parminder Singh has been trained in our Farriery Institute, is working as a farrier in his country, is the official interpreter during our courses and will soon become a farrier-instructor.

Sahib arrived on April 15 in Amsterdam (NL) and from there went on to Groningen (NL) to attend the Werkman Spring Games. At this great farriery event, combining a farriery congress and a forging contest at the same time, Sahib saw the best of the profession and met up with some of his „teachers“, former volunteers of the Flying Anvil that were also attending the 3-day event. We would like to thank Werkman Horseshoes www.werkmanhorseshoes.com once again for inviting Sahib to such a well-organized event as theirs.

After his participation in the Werkman Spring Games, Sahib spent 2 weeks of training in Sweden with former volunteer Uno Yxklinten. There, Sahib dealt with horses that were much bigger than in India! A Swedish local Journal interviewed Sahib and Uno about their uncommon experience together first in India, then suddenly in Sweden! Our Punjabi farrier was then kindly invited by Bengt Steinsland in Norway for a week of training in his company Horze Hestesko www.horzehestesko.no . Once again a whole new environment, meeting up with new farriers and friends. For his last day in Norway, Sahib attended a little forging contest in Oslo. Sunday 10th of May, he flew to Finland, there he has been receiving during 2 weeks all the good tips from Riina Villanen also Volunteer of FAF. Riina, talented blacksmith, taught him a few tricks in the forge and they concentrated on the clipmaking. Their visit at a horse clinic was also very interesting for Sahib who was able to see some difficult cases and some novelties such as the wooden shoes invented by Dr. Stephen O’Grady, very successful for the treatment of laminitis. Sahib is now off to Germany to continue his training tour with other great farriers! But we will give you more news later on!

Once again we thank you all for your participation in this action, which gave Sahib an opportunity he will never forget !

We are also very amazed to see how welcoming and generous people are in the farriery profession: helping and hosting Sahib.
